KENSUKE SUMII
At the heart of Drum Revolution is Kensuke Sumii, a professional taiko drummer with decades of experience. Kensuke was primarily trained in Tokyo under the guidance of Watanabe Yoichi, the founder of the Tokyo-based professional taiko group, Amanojaku. He brings a deep understanding of taiko’s cultural roots while pushing the art form in new, creative directions. Under his leadership, Drum Revolution has grown into a vibrant force in the Bay Area’s performance scene, evolving sound while remaining grounded in the rich tradition of taiko.
